Retinoids are a group of vitamin A-derived ingredients that include retinaldehyde, retinol, retinyl esters, and retinyl palmitate.
What are the benefits?
Retinoid treatment can inhibit the excessive development of the collagenase enzyme (responsible for the breakdown of dermal collagen) as well as by promoting collagen synthesis resulting in dermal collagen tissue regeneration. Since retinoids increase collagen types I and II, they improve the visible signs of ageing and can prevent premature skin ageing.
