What are the benefits?
Kojic acid is a skin-brightening agent with antioxidant properties. Kojic acid is one of the ingredients which inhibits tyrosinase. Tyrosinase is the enzyme responsible for the initial synthesis of melanin. By inhibiting Tyrosinase, kojic acid reduces melanin overproduction and lightens pigmentations. When combined with allantoin and other appropriate ingredients in sunscreen preparations, the formulation can inhibit UV-caused erythema and helps wound healing. See also: Antioxidant
