Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter is derived from cocoa beans and is used as an emollient. However, it is considered comedogenic and can cause allergic reactions.

What are the benefits?

Cocoa butter contains antioxidant polyphenols which softens and lubricates the skin. This vegetable fat is stable at room temperature but liquefies at temperatures ranging from 90°c to 100°c . Because of its low melting point, it is commonly used in lip balms and massage creams (i.e., close to body temperature).
